Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Andriy Gursky

On Monday, July 3, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Andrii Gursky, who died in battle while defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders.

The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Andriy Gurskyi

(10/03/1977 – 06/24/2023)

He was born in Budapest (Hungary) in the family of a military pilot.

He studied at secondary school No. 52 in the city of Lviv (now the lyceum). In 1996, he graduated from the former Vocational and Technical School No. 1 as an “electrical fitter for repair and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment”.

During the last period, he worked as a senior sales manager in the Elektromeister chain of stores.

In his spare time, he repaired radio and electrical equipment, was interested in space exploration, loved spending time with his family, fishing, picking mushrooms, and traveling. He was distinguished by a good sense of humor, pedantry, thanks to his sharp mind he successfully solved difficult tasks.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, despite the lack of military experience, he joined the ranks of the 48th separate artillery brigade of the operational command “North” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. Subsequently, he performed tasks as part of a number of other military units.

Andrii Gursky is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and brother.
