Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Dmytro Shevchuk

On Saturday, June 24, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Dmytro Shevchuk, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Dmytro Shevchuk (February 4, 1967-January 31, 2023) was born in the village of Borshiv, Lviv region.

He studied at the Borshiv General Secondary Education Institute of I-II degrees. He graduated from the Przemyśl Vocational Lyceum. After completing his studies, he served in the military.

In peacetime, he was engaged in private business. He was fond of literature.

In 2018, he performed combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend the Motherland. He fought against the Russian occupiers in the ranks of the 63rd separate mechanized brigade of the Reserve Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv and Donetsk regions.

Dmytro Shevchuk is survived by his mother, wife, son-in-law, two children and a grandson.
