Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Maksym Lavrenko

On Tuesday, July 4, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Maksym Lavrenko, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

 

Maksym Lavrenko (“The Pill”) (October 19, 1997-July 1, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Lyceum No. 45 of the Lviv City Council. He graduated from the Higher Vocational School No. 48 of the city of Lviv (today – the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Computer Technologies and Construction”).

After completing his studies, he worked in the restaurant industry, was fond of cooking. He devoted his free time to football.

In 2018, he voluntarily signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He completed his military service in Lviv and Kherson as part of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After returning to civilian life, he worked in the construction industry.

From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces Reserve Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought against the invaders in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In addition to performing combat tasks, he was engaged in field cooking.

Maxim Lavrenka is survived by his parents, wife, daughter, aunt, mother-in-law and father-in-law, cousin and nieces.
