Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Oleg Chasnyk

On Thursday, May 25, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Oleg Chasnyk, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 10:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Oleg Chasnyk (03.08.2001-21.05.2023) native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 30 of the city of Lviv. Received vocational and technical education at Higher Vocational School No. 29. In his free time, he actively engaged in boxing, was a member of the sports club “Free Character” and won numerous regional competitions.

After completing his studies, he completed military service, and later signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he fought with the occupiers on the territory of the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions as part of the 214th separate special battalion OPFOR of the International Peacekeeping and Security Center. For his heroic actions in rescuing his commander during the execution of combat missions and the destruction of numerous enemy landing forces, he was awarded the honorary badge of the Chief of the General Staff “For Exemplary in Military Service” of the 3rd degree and the award of the President of Ukraine “For Military Service to Ukraine”.

Oleg Chasnyk is survived by his parents and younger brother.
