Lviv will say goodbye to defender Serhiy Havrylov tomorrow

On Tuesday, 20 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Serhiy Havrylov, who died at the hands of Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall urges Lviv residents and visitors to refrain from holding any entertainment events or celebrations at this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11.00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a city farewell ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Serhiy Havrylov (08.05.1992-12.02.2024). A resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum №24 named after Maria Konopnytska of Lviv City Council. He graduated from the University of Banking. After graduation, he served in the Air Defence Forces.

In 2014, Sergiy Gavrilov and his twin brother Dmytro joined the 3rd Territorial Defence Battalion “Volya” and performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone.

After returning, he worked as a consultant at the Megasport store. He was actively involved in football, playing for the Pohon Lviv sports club, and also took part in competitions as part of the team of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. But Serhii Havrylov’s true passion was fishing.

According to his family, he was “an extremely kind man, a loving father and husband and a true friend to many”.

On the second day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he again stood up to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He served side by side with his brother, first as part of the security company of the regional TCC and JV, and later – the 15th separate mountain assault Sevastopol battalion of the 128th separate mountain assault Transcarpathian brigade of the operational command “West” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Serhiy Havrylov is survived by his grandmother, parents, wife, two young sons and twin brother, who continues to defend the country on the frontline.
