Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Ihor Mykhaylishyn, who died in Mariupol

On Wednesday, July 20, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Ihor Mikhailyshyn, who died in March in Mariupol in the fight against the Russian invaders. The funeral will be held in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, the serviceman will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. The City Hall urges you to join the farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertaining events and celebrations during this time.

At 11:00 a.m., the funeral service will begin in the Garrison Church, at 11:30 a.m. a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. After that, the funeral procession will go to the Lychakiv cemetery. Blue and yellow flags with a mourning ribbon will be hung on the buildings along the route of the convoy.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Ihor Mykhailyshyn (20.02.1995 – 20.03.2022) native of Lviv. Graduated from secondary comprehensive school No. 65 of the city of Lviv. He studied at the Lviv Higher Professional School of Information and Computer Technologies and the National Academy of Internal Affairs.

During 2013-2014, he was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity.

From 2014 to 2017, he served in the volunteer battalion “Azov” of the special purpose police patrol service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (now – the “Azov” special purpose detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine). As a member of the regiment, he was in sector “M” of the anti-terrorist operation zone and participated in the Shyrokyn operation.

In 2017, he served in the 199th Training Center of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later in the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Junior sergeant. From 2021, he continued his military service in the “Azov” Special Detachment of the 3057th Military Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Died on March 20, 2022 in Mariupol. By decree of the President of Ukraine dated April 2, 2022 No. 202/2022, he was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree.

Igor Mykhailyshyn is survived by his grandfather, grandmother, parents and sister.
