Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Taras Chaika

Tomorrow, November 12, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Taras Chaika, who died in the battle with the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of St. App. Peter and Paul, at 10:30 a.m. – city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Taras Chaika (10.02.1993-02.11.2022). A native of the village of Sokil, Volyn region.
He studied at the Communal Institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Lviv General Educational Sanatorium School No. 1 of I-III degrees named after Bohdan-Ihor Antonych”. He graduated from the Lviv National University of Nature Management with a major in “Accounting and Auditing”.

In 2020, he received a specialization in the field of “alternative dispute resolution”. In addition, he studied at the Private Joint-Stock Company “Higher Educational Institution “Interregional Academy of Personnel Management”. In 2022, he obtained a master’s degree in law and planned to become a lawyer after winning.

After passing the military department at the base of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny, he received the rank of “junior lieutenant”.

He started his career in accounting. In 2021, he received a certificate of the right to perform the activities of an arbitration manager.

In his spare time, he was fond of hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Lviv city and Zolochiv district organizations of the Ukrainian Society of Hunters and Fishermen.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he fought against the terrorist state in the ranks of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a separate reconnaissance platoon. On April 16, 2022, he earned the rank of “lieutenant”.

Taras Chaika is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, brother and grandmother.
