On Friday, January 27, residents of Lviv will participate in mourning events in honor of Oleksiy Makharinov, a serviceman who gave his life for the safety of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. The city authorities appeal to the public to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations on this day.
The farewell will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul, after which the ceremony will take place at 11:30 in Rynok Square. Oleksiy Makharinov’s funeral will be held at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Oleksiy Makharinov was born on May 23, 1986, in Berdyansk, Zaporizhia Oblast. He began his professional career as a painter and plasterer after graduating from Vocational School No. 25. Later, he worked at a metal processing plant and joined the “Oselya” community, where helping the homeless became his life’s creed. He was an avid cook and a respected member of your community, and after the war began, he joined the 155th separate mechanized brigade, actively defending Ukraine.
In his life, Oleksiy left behind a son, who is now growing up without a father, numerous friends and colleagues who remember and honor him.
