Tomorrow the Lviv community will say goodbye to Heroes Rostyslav Shafransky and Oleg Gritselyak

On Thursday, May 18, the Lviv community will say goodbye to two Heroes. Rostyslav Shafranskyi and Oleg Hrytselyak died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral of Rostislav Shafranskyi will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul UGCC, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

The funeral rite of Oleg Hrytselyak will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church of St. Nicholas of the UGCC in Pidbirtsy (1 Yakimovicha St.). The Hero will be buried at the local cemetery.

 

Biographical references of Heroes

Rostyslav Shafranskyi (March 27, 1999-May 11, 2023) from Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 84 named after Blessed Yosafata Gordashevska, later at the Korelytskyi General Secondary Education Institute of I-II levels. He graduated from the Przemyśl Vocational Lyceum majoring in “painter, plasterer”.

After completing his studies, he served in the A0981 military unit. In his free time, he was fond of football.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation joined the ranks of territorial defense. Later, he defended the state from the invaders in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the Operational Command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Rostislav Shafransky is survived by his parents and sister.

 

Oleg Hrytselyak (March 26, 1993-May 13, 2023) was born in the village of Pidbirtsi, Lviv Region.

In 1999-2010, he studied at the Pidbirtsiv Lyceum of the Lviv City Council. After completing his studies, he completed his military service in the ranks of the 45th operational regiment named after Oleksandr Krasitsky of the Western operational-territorial unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

During the years 2013-2022, he worked in the limited liability company “Rodyna Kovbaska”.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he decided to defend the Motherland from the invaders. He defended the territorial integrity and independence of the state in the “hot” points of the front as part of the 36th separate brigade of marines named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinsky of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Hrytselyak is survived by his wife and two-year-old son.
