Once again, Sokal region is enveloped in a black shroud of mourning. Our compatriot, soldier SHAK Orest Yevhenovych, returns home on a shield.
The Hero was born on April 12, 1978, in the village of Tartakiv, graduated from the local school in 1995. Afterward, he graduated from school 55 in Chervonohrad. Later, he worked in his native village. He had golden hands, was a good welder.
On May 9, 2024, Orest was called up for military service to the Armed Forces of Ukraine through mobilization. Without hesitation, he stood to defend the Homeland. Since July 10, 2024, Orest Shak was considered missing. The Hero’s road home became very long…
After the identification procedure in October 2025, his death was confirmed. A year and three months later, the warrior’s body returns to his homeland to find his final resting place here.
The Hero is survived by: mother Yaroslava Ivanivna, father Yevhen Mykhailovych, sister Halyna with her family, son Maksym, and wife Nadiya. We bow our heads in grief and express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the fallen Hero, sharing their pain of the irreparable loss. His courage and feat will live in the memory of future generations.

Tomorrow, October 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM, we will meet the body of Orest SHAK near the church of Sts. Peter and Paul. The Hero will be buried on October 14, 2025, at the local cemetery in his native village of Tartakiv.
