Defender Dmytro Slyvka will be buried tomorrow in Lviv

On Monday, February 26, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Slyvka, who defended the country from Russian occupiers, will be buried in Lviv. The burial will take place at 12:00 at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The day before, on Thursday, February 22, the community of Lviv said goodbye to the soldier Dmytro Slyvka: a funeral service was held in the Garrison Church and a city farewell ceremony was held on Rynok Square. Afterward, the body of the fallen defender was taken to Kyiv for cremation. Tomorrow at 12:00 his ashes will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

The defender’s biographical information

Dmytro Slyvka (19.08.1996-18.02.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum №18 of the Lviv City Council. He graduated from the Ukrainian Catholic University and the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture.

Since 2018, he has been working as an occupational therapist at the Early Intervention Department of the Lviv City Center for Social Services and Rehabilitation “Dzherelo”. He worked with families raising children from birth to 4 years old. He had good skills in working with families, built strong and lasting relationships with them, which significantly improved the results of therapy. He found an approach to each child. He was also part of a team of trainers who trained professionals to provide effective early intervention services.

He loved the mountains and was an active sportsman. According to his family, Dmytro Slyvka was very stubborn and persistent.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the Russian occupiers. He defended the independence and territorial integrity of the state in the ranks of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Dmytro Slyvka is survived by his father, mother and wife.
