On Thursday, February 29, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Oleksandr Pitsyk, Ihor Ozhybko, and Andriy Kiselyov defended Ukraine from Russian invaders. The mayor’s office calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a city farewell ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biographical information about the defenders
Ihor Ozhybko (23.09.1967-24.02.2024). A native of the village of Lysynychi.
He lived in Lviv. He studied at the secondary school №72 in Lviv. He received the profession of “Regulator of Radio Electronic Equipment” at a local school.
After graduation, he held various positions at the Television Plant Electron, Polaron, and Ukrtelecom. Most recently, he worked at Galbudzvjazok Limited Liability Company. In his spare time he was fond of football.
He is a combat medic. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he joined the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He defended the state on the southern and eastern directions.
Ihor Ozhybko is survived by his brother, sister and two nephews.
Oleksandr Pitsyk (16.03.1982-15.10.2023). A native of the city of Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
He studied at the Kalush Lyceum #7, and later entered the Dmytro Bakhmatyuk Kalush Lyceum. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University with a degree in Computer Engineering.
He was known for his active civic position: he took an active part in the “Ukraine without Kuchma” campaign, events during the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. All his life he worked in the field of furniture construction and design in Lviv, Kyiv, and Odesa. For a certain period, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activity.
From the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend his homeland from the invaders. He defended the state in the southern direction as part of the 15th Operational Brigade named after the Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada of the Southern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Pitsyk is survived by his mother, wife, two children and sister.
Andrii Kiselov (10.07.1974-25.02.2024). He was born into the family of a military medic and spent his childhood in the city of Novyi Rozdil, Lviv region.
In 1989, he graduated from Novyi Rozdil Secondary School No. 2. He received his education at the Novorozdilsk Polytechnic Professional College. In 1999, he graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University with a degree in Electrical Systems and Networks.
For more than twenty years of his life, he has been working at Lvivoblenergo Private Joint Stock Company, and has worked his way up from the dispatcher of the REM-3 network district of LMEM to the deputy chief engineer of LMEM.
During 2015-2017, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone as part of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa of the East Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he joined the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. During his service, he was promoted to the rank of “Major” and took up the position of battalion commander.
For his personal courage, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the honorary breastplates of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Silver Cross” and “Cross of the Brave” and personalized weapons. He heroically performed missions on the southern and eastern directions.
Andriy Kiselyov is survived by his mother, wife, two sons and a brother.
