President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that, together with First Deputy Chief of the General Staff Mykhailo Drapatyi, the General Staff and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov (referred to in the address as Khmara), he had agreed further steps to strengthen the country's defence.
The head of state stated that two updated groupings of troops would be created in the Donetsk region. They are to be led by Hero of Ukraine Denys Prokopenko and Hero of Ukraine Andriy Biletskyi, who have been appointed commanders of these formations.
Zelensky also reported that he had presented Andriy Biletskyi with the Gold Star of the Hero of Ukraine. Separately, he highlighted the work of the commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Apostol (Oleh), thanking him and all AAF service personnel for the strength they have contributed to repelling the aggression.
According to the president, another important area of work that day was meetings with commanders in the Zaporizhzhia sector. Following these discussions, a decision was taken to increase the provision of troops with the necessary equipment, in particular by expanding the production and procurement of MRCs.
In addition, with the participation of the defence minister and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a number of personnel decisions were agreed. Zelensky stressed that a more systematic approach is planned for the so-called mid-strikes and the overall management of the defence forces.
