These simple tips will help save the life of a homeless animal.
As noted by the animal protection organization Uanimals, the difficult life of homeless animals in winter becomes unbearable due to cold and hunger. Due to frost and lack of food, dogs die after 15 hours, cats after 6. And it depends only on people how the animals will survive the winter.
How you can help:
Feed the animals with warm food
It can be warm porridge or light soup. You can even buy dry food and fill it with hot water.
Pour warm water on the animals
In frost, water freezes very quickly in bowls, so it is worth pouring warm water and checking the bowl from time to time. In this case, it will not freeze so quickly and the animal will be able to warm up somehow.
Let it warm up
If possible, let the animals warm up in the driveway. When they get into the heat, they immediately sleep – this is how they manage to regain their strength. Also check the basement windows to make sure they are not boarded up.
Make a shelter
You can use a regular box. You can wrap the house with tape on the outside, and put warm sweaters or other old clothes inside. We recommend placing the booths on a wooden pallet so that the cold from the ground does not go inside.
Find a family
The best thing you can do is give a homeless animal a family and a home. Respite and shelter is also one of the options to prevent animals from freezing while you are looking for a family for them. However, with the war, shelters are overflowing with abandoned animals, so you can help these facilities with information so that animals can be taken to their families faster.
Each of us is able to help animals survive the cold, the main thing is not to stand aside. Spread the word and help save animals suffering from war.
By the way, in the Lviv shelter “Home of Rescued Animals” drivers are reminded that with the onset of colder weather, before getting behind the wheel, it is necessary to check the wheels and the hood to make sure that cats did not get there in search of warmth.
