During the war, the Lviv Regional Employment Service is working on the implementation of several active programs aimed at creating new jobs and preserving the labor potential,
thus helping the unemployed to return to work and businesses to find the staff they need. First of all, professional training for the unemployed is organized at the request of employers. Last year, 2,900 people went through education under the guidance of the Employment Service, of which 1,400 acquired a new profession or increased their level of professional qualification at the vocational and technical education centers of the State Employment Service, the rest were trained directly at workplaces in production.
Since the declaration of martial law, the state has financially supported employers who employ forcibly displaced persons by paying them compensation in the amount of two minimum wages for each hired IDP. In 2022, 530 subjects of economic activity will provide work for 1,373 visitors from areas of active hostilities or temporarily occupied territories, for which they will be compensated over UAH 16.8 million.
The program of reimbursing employers for the costs of paying a single social contribution is aimed at creating new jobs. This mechanism was used by 108 employers in 2022, of which 48 provided new jobs to 60 representatives of the most vulnerable segments of the population, and 67 small business entities organized 134 new jobs for the unemployed in priority sectors of the economy. Almost UAH 3.0 million was used for this type of service last year.
In order to preserve labor teams during the period of quarantine, declaration of martial law or other emergency situations, firms and companies can apply for the payment of partial unemployment benefits. Thanks to this tool, financial support was provided to 311 employees in the Lviv region who had employment relationships with 4 employers. The total amount of expenses for partial unemployment benefits amounted to almost UAH 2.2 million.
Since July last year, the “eRobota” program has been operating, the purpose of which is to financially support businesses during the war by paying micro-grants. As a result of its implementation, 433 participants received a positive decision regarding the financing of business ideas at the expense of micro-grants. They plan to create 1,045 new jobs.
