Odesa resident served a notice of suspicion of facilitating border crossing with fictitious document as a father with many children
Under the procedural supervision of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, a 38-year-old resident of Odesa was served a notice of suspicion. She is charged with assisting in the illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine, as well as forgery of seals and official documents (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in 2024, a resident of Odesa helped a person liable for military service to avoid mobilisation and cross the state border unhindered on the basis of a forged document in return for a monetary reward.
In particular, her criminal scheme involved the production of a fake birth certificate for a non-existent child.
She posted an advert about this ‘opportunity’ on the Telegram messenger.
She estimated her services at UAH 14,500.
As part of the criminal proceedings, more than 270 counterfeit seals of enterprises, institutions and organisations, forms of documents and birth certificates of children, mobile phones and computer equipment used to produce them were found and seized as a result of authorised searches. They also seized almost USD 110 thousand, gold bars weighing 2.5 kg and other items.
The issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
The investigative actions are ongoing. All involved persons are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region with the operational support of the Operational and Investigative Department of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Migration Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region and the SBU Military Counterintelligence Department.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
