Patrol Officer Volodymyr Chernii apprehended a thief while off duty.
Around midnight on Kulparkivska Street, the officer heard a noise in the apartment above. This alerted him, and he decided to check the situation. Through the peephole, he saw an unknown person in a balaclava with bags, descending the stairs. Without hesitation, the inspector rushed to the staircase to detain the suspected offender.
The man attempted to flee, but Volodymyr caught up with him. The suspect resisted and bit the officer’s hand. Another witness to the event called 102 to report the conflict near the building. A crew of patrol police arrived at the scene. The suspect was detained, and an investigative team was called.
Investigators collected physical evidence, and the 38-year-old man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He faces criminal responsibility for robbery. We thank our colleague for his vigilance and professionalism 24/7.
