Lviv region: Law enforcers detain deputy head of medical centre on suspicion of receiving bribe
In exchange for a monetary reward, the suspect promised to produce “fake” medical documents confirming the right to be discharged from military service for health reasons.
The offender, a 37-year-old resident of Lviv, was exposed by investigators of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department jointly with operatives of the SBU Office in Lviv region, under the supervision of the Lviv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
As law enforcement officers established, the deputy head of the medical centre promised the serviceman to ensure his further inpatient treatment in exchange for a monetary reward, as well as to produce false medical documents that would allow him to be discharged from military service for health reasons.
Investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
