Second Holy Evening: Traditions and Significance of the Holiday

✨ Today is the Second Holy Evening — the eve before the final celebration of the Christmas-New Year cycle — Epiphany.

Christians celebrate it annually on the evening of January 5th, honoring the Epiphany and Baptism of the Lord. In folklore, this Holy Evening is also called “Hungry Kutia” because, traditionally, a strict fast is observed throughout the day until the water is blessed in the church.
