Procession in Belz: Honoring the Memory of Fallen Soldiers
Today, concerned locals honored the memory of Belz’s heroic soldiers, who died defending Ukraine, with a shared prayerful procession.
Leading the Procession and Route
The procession was led by Father Dean Oleksiy Yavorsky, the abbot of the Church of the Transference of the Relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the UGCC in Belz. During the procession, the stations included not only sacred places of Belz but also the houses where the families of the fallen Heroes live, and those of soldiers who are considered missing in action.
“We walked the streets that remember their steps. We stopped at the thresholds where they waited and are still waiting. Every prayer is like a touch of eternity. Every candle is like a ray of hope in the darkness of loss. Every gaze is a silent ‘thank you’. 🙏 We thank everyone who was there. Those who took this journey not only with their feet but with their souls,” remarked Oksana Bereza, head of the Belz community.
Step by step, station by station, the hearts of our residents walked with Christ through pain, silence, and hope. We remember, we pray, we will overcome.
