In the courtyard of Brody Specialised School No. 2 in Brody, a memorial was unveiled and consecrated to fallen alumni who gave their lives in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence. The war claimed the lives of 22 former pupils of this educational institution.
The unveiling of the memorial was attended by relatives of the fallen servicemen, as well as teachers and pupils of the school. The parish priest of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Father Petro Chapliuk, held a memorial service for the repose of the souls of the fallen defenders.
The initiator and benefactor of the memorial’s construction was the mother of a fallen defender, Halyna Sytar. Brody City Council and the municipal enterprise “Brody” also contributed to the implementation of the project.
According to the headteacher, people come to the memorial every evening to honour the memory of the alumni, lay flowers and light candles. The Zolochiv District State Administration of Lviv Region called for the blessed memory of the fallen soldiers to be cherished and passed on to future generations.
