In the village of Buniv, at the final resting place of Ukrainian public figure Yurii Lypa, a solemn prayer vigil was held. Local residents, clergy and invited guests came to the grave of the doctor, writer and ideologue of Ukrainian state-building to honour his memory.
The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sport of the Yavoriv City Council, Bohdan Radelitskyi, and the Director of the nationwide publishing house “Kamenyar”, Dmytro Sapiha. Together with the community, they joined in a common prayer for the repose of Yurii Lypa.
Participants in the vigil recalled that Yurii Lypa was a doctor who saved the lives of UPA soldiers, as well as a renowned writer, poet, publicist and one of the leading ideologues of Ukrainian state-building. The report emphasises that his works on the geopolitical role of Ukraine remain relevant to this day.
According to the organisers, Yurii Lypa died a martyr’s death at the hands of the NKVD, without renouncing his convictions. During the vigil, the importance of preserving the memory of such figures as a foundation for Ukraine’s future was underlined.
