On 26 April in Lviv, prayers will be held in all city churches to commemorate those who perished during the Chernobyl disaster, which occurred 40 years ago. Organisers urge Lviv residents to honour the liquidators who, while risking their lives, assisted others. Yevhen Boyko emphasises the importance of collectively honouring the memory.
The city mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, in a letter to church leaders, notes that the events at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station should be appropriately commemorated. The city also plans a memorial celebration with educational and cultural events, some of which will be open to all.
