On 29 August, the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, a requiem evening will be held in Lviv to honour the service personnel who gave their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
The event will begin at 17:00 in the Garrison Church of Sts Peter and Paul. The programme of the requiem evening includes an ecumenical memorial service and participation in the nationwide remembrance campaign “Sunflower”.
The organisers invite residents and guests of Lviv region to join in paying tribute to the fallen defenders.
The Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine is marked annually on 29 August. The symbol of this date is the sunflower, as it was in the sunflower fields at the end of August 2014 that the tragic events near Ilovaisk took place.
