In the village of Mezhyrichchia of the Zhydachiv territorial community in the Stryi region, an “Alley of Fame” has been opened, dedicated to Ukraine’s fallen defenders and the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The newly created memorial space has become a place to honour the soldiers who gave their lives in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Relatives and friends of the fallen soldiers, local residents, as well as representatives of the local authorities and clergy came to the opening of the “Alley of Fame”. Memorial plaques were installed near the grave of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen.
As part of the project, memorial plaques were unveiled to four soldiers. Artem Kushchovyi, originally from Khrystynivka in the Cherkasy region, lived in Mezhyrichchia and served as a rifleman-medic in a rifle squad of military unit A7028. He was killed on 15 August 2024 near Toretsk in Donetsk region at the age of 39.
Mykhailo Shchur, a native of Mezhyrichchia, served as a reconnaissance scout in the reconnaissance platoon of military unit A4574. He was killed on 17 December 2024 near Uspenivka in Donetsk region, when he was 27 years old. The soldier was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III class.
Bohdan Pundor, also a native of Mezhyrichchia, joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders in August 2024. He served as a pilot (operator) of unmanned aerial vehicles in military unit 3002. He was killed on 28 April 2025 near the settlement of Malynivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region at the age of 27. He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III class.
Mykola Sadovyi, a native of Mezhyrichchia, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in September 2022. He served as a junior sergeant, head of the supply platoon’s logistics depot of military unit A0342. He was killed on 9 May 2025 near the settlement of Torske in the Lyman territorial community of the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region at the age of 41.
The “Alley of Fame” in Mezhyrichchia is intended to preserve the memory of the fallen soldiers and to remind the community of their sacrifice for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
