In the village of Nova Skvaryava, two more memorial plaques were unveiled and consecrated in honour of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine Volodymyr Sorokalit and Bohdan Kravets. The commemorative markers were installed in the centre of the village.
The event was timed to coincide with State Flag Day and the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. The memorial site is intended to remind everyone who passes by that the country’s freedom and independence are won at the cost of human lives, and that for the peaceful life of Ukrainians these men gave the most precious thing of all – their own lives.
During the unveiling, the village elder, Stepan Strus, thanked the residents of Nova Skvaryava who contributed to the arrangement of the memorial, as well as the Mayor, Oleg Volskyi, for his support, assistance and funding of the works.
“Together we must do everything so that the memory of our Defenders lives on in our hearts,” noted Stepan Strus.
The community emphasises that honouring the fallen soldiers and preserving the memory of them is a shared duty of all residents.
