In the village of Kuty, in the Busk community, the Avenue of Heroes was solemnly opened and consecrated – a memorial space created to honour local residents who were killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war while defending Ukraine.
The Avenue commemorates four fallen defenders from Kuty: Viktor Anatoliiovych Holikov, Andrii Arkadiiovych Chornyi, Andrii Volodymyrovych Vovk and Mykhailo Andriiovych Bereza.
During the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Busk, Rostyslav Slipets, and the Acting Head of the Olesko Starosta District, Olha Paselska, addressed those present. The Mayor stressed the community’s shared responsibility for preserving the memory of the fallen soldiers and supporting their families, as they gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
Olha Paselska expressed her gratitude to the leadership of the Busk City Council, the employees of the municipal utility company, the families of the fallen, and everyone who contributed to the creation and improvement of the Avenue of Heroes and the arrangement of this place of remembrance.
The memorial service for the fallen soldiers and the rite of consecration of the Avenue of Heroes was performed by the rector of the local church of the Feast of the Most Holy Mother of God of the OCU, Father Stepan Momokhod.
The Avenue of Heroes in Kuty is intended to become a space of mourning, gratitude and respect for the defenders who stood up for Ukraine and gave their lives for it, as well as a reminder to future generations of the high price of our independence.
