Alley of Glory opened in Staryi Myliatyn in honour of fallen defenders

In the village of Staryi Myliatyn in the Busk community in the Zolochiv district, an Alley of Glory has been created and consecrated in honour of local defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine. The memorial site was established to preserve the memory of fellow villagers who fell in the war with Russia.

Among the immortalised soldiers is Petro Yakymiv, a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, who, after the start of the full-scale invasion, once again joined the ranks of the defenders as part of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo. He was killed on 30 March 2022 near Popasna at the age of 31. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III class and the “Hero’s Cross” order.

The Alley of Glory also honours Bohdan Rubakha, commander of the 3rd Rifle Company. He was killed on 15 May 2023 near Chasiv Yar, at the age of 40. The soldier was posthumously decorated.

Roman Banakh, a senior soldier and combat medic of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo, was remembered separately. He was killed on 22 July 2023 near Ozarianivka at the age of 23.

The memorial also immortalises Andrii Kotsaba, who served in the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade. He was killed on 5 October 2025, at the age of 51.

The Alley of Glory in Staryi Myliatyn has become a place of shared remembrance and prayer for the fallen soldiers who defended Ukraine at the cost of their own lives.
