The Ukraine national football team has come to Lviv for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion and held an open training session at the Skif Stadium. This was reported by Maksym Kozytskyi on Facebook.
Thousands of people came to watch the team train. According to Kozytskyi, the stadium was filled with children’s smiles, Ukrainian flags and a palpable atmosphere of support for the team, something Lviv had not seen for a long time.
Kozytskyi thanked the Ukrainian Association of Football, Andriy Shevchenko, the coaching staff and all the players for organising the open training session in Lviv. He also expressed separate gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine, thanks to whom such events are possible.
In his post, the head of the region recalled that the Ukraine national team had recently secured a confident 2:0 win over Poland, and that on Sunday at 19:30 they face their next friendly match against Denmark.
“We are proud of our own. We believe in our own. And we know that victory will definitely come – both on the football pitch and for the whole of Ukraine,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.
