The first football championship of the same name took place in Stryi region

The football competition among family namesakes was recorded in the Ukrainian Book of Records.

The competition took place at the Arena stadium in the village of Yosypovychi. It was the first Ukrainian championship among F-1 teams, meaning that family teams competed.

Four football teams took part in the sporting event: Fedorina, Popadyuk, Yurkiv and Drozd.

In the match for third place, F-1 Drozd defeated F-1 Fedoryna 2-1. And in the final, F-1 Popadiuk and F-1 Yurkiv met. Both teams had good chances to score, but only the Popadiuk family team managed to score, with the score being 1-0.

Thus, the final position of the teams is as follows:

1st place – “F-1 Popadiuk”

2nd place – “F-1 Yurkiv”

3rd place – “F-1 Drozd”

4th place – F-1 Fedorina

The project was organised by Vasyl Levko, a football veteran from Yosypovychi, with the assistance of the Football Association of the Stryi Territorial Community and the Gazovyk Yosypovychi Sports Club.

The football competition among the namesakes was recorded in the Ukrainian Book of Records. A representative of the National Register of Records of Ukraine (NRRU) issued a special certificate to the tournament organiser Vasyl Levko.

“I have high hopes that the football festival, which took place on 29 September 2024, will become unforgettable in the life of every ardent supporter and football fan of our region. I am convinced that the Ukrainian football championship among F-1 teams will become an annual event with the involvement of more family teams,” said Vasyl Levko.

The championship also raised UAH 20 thousand for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Such events once again emphasise the importance of accessible sports infrastructure not only in big cities, but in all corners of Lviv region. If there is a place to exercise, there will be training and competitions. That is why rebuilding and increasing the number of locations for sports is one of the key areas of our management. Over the past five years, we have significantly improved the sports infrastructure of Lviv region: stadiums in Busk, Sambir, Stryi, the SKIF stadium and the arena of the summer sports training base of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, etc.”, says Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
