Lviv has become the first city in Ukraine to inaugurate two new modular mini-pitches with artificial surfaces as part of the FIFA Arena programme. They were opened on the grounds of Secondary School No. 77 and the Orphan Care Centre of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC. The legendary footballer Andriy Shevchenko attended the event. Children were warmly welcomed onto the modern field with an artificial surface, branded by FIFA Arena.
The project received funding over 16 million UAH, drawing on resources from the Lviv City Council and the FIFA Arena initiative. According to the president of UAF, Andriy Shevchenko, these sports facilities will contribute to the development of Ukrainian football. The opening of several more such pitches is planned. Special attention has been given to the safety and quality of the new surface.
Father Roman Prokopets played an important role in choosing the location for the “Orphan Care Centre” pitch. The city council assisted in the development of this project, and construction began even before the onset of the full-scale war. The centre hosts the football club “Kopa”, where the new training opportunities are highly valued.
