Autumn Cup 2026 memorial tournament for fallen defenders held in Yablunivka

The village of Yablunivka hosted a football tournament in memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders, the “Autumn Cup 2026”. Before the competition began, players and supporters observed a minute’s silence in honour of the servicemen and women who gave their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity.

Three teams from the Busk municipal territorial community competed for the prestigious trophy: FC Yavir from Yablunivka, FC Standard from Pobuzhany and FC Standard from Zavodske. The tournament was played in a round-robin format, with each side facing the other two opponents once. Matches lasted 60 minutes (two halves of 30 minutes).

In the opening game, FC Yavir (Yablunivka) drew 2‑2 with FC Standard (Zavodske), but in the ensuing penalty shoot-out the side from Zavodske claimed victory 4‑2. The team from Pobuzhany then went on to record convincing wins over both opponents: first beating Yavir 4‑0, and then overcoming Standard from Zavodske by the same scoreline.

Based on the final standings, first place and the title of Autumn Cup 2026 winners went to FC Standard (Pobuzhany), with FC Standard (Zavodske) finishing runners-up and FC Yavir (Yablunivka) taking third place. The Pobuzhany players delivered a dominant performance, securing two victories by identical 4‑0 scorelines.

The teams were presented with their cups by the head of the community’s Football Federation, Andriy Karanets. The organisers expressed their gratitude to the hosts of the tournament, FC Yavir, to everyone involved in staging the event, and to the supporters for their passionate backing and for creating a vibrant sporting atmosphere.

Participants in the tournament stressed that it is the Armed Forces of Ukraine who make it possible to hold such events, and they commemorated all the fallen male and female defenders in whose memory the football tournament was dedicated.
