During the event, the participants took an active part in a roundtable discussion on “Prospects for the development of women’s entrepreneurship in agriculture”.
On the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women, an event was held with the support of the Department of Agricultural Development of Lviv Regional State Administration and in cooperation with the Lviv Agricultural Advisory Service, which brought together more than 30 participants, including farmers, entrepreneurs and representatives of NGOs.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Lyudmyla Honcharenko, Acting Director of the LOVA Agricultural Development Department, and Ivan Pankiv, Director of the Lviv Agricultural Advisory Service, who thanked the women for their significant contribution to the development of the agricultural sector and support of communities during the war.
Participants of the event joined a roundtable discussion to consider the prospects for women’s entrepreneurship in agriculture. They discussed opportunities to support women’s businesses, grant programmes and plans for 2025. They also discussed programmes to support women’s entrepreneurship from FAO and the regional employment centre. The event became a platform for sharing experiences, asking questions to experts and establishing new business contacts.
“Rural women play a key role in economic development. Their work is especially important in times of war when men are defending the country. Such meetings create new opportunities for women to develop their businesses, support their families and communities, and contribute to the rebuilding of Ukraine,” said Liudmyla Honcharenko.
All the participants received gifts from the Lviv Agricultural Advisory Service and gratitude from the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Department of Agricultural Development.
