One simple way to keep a child interested during the flight is to prepare a small “surprise pack”. You can fill it with inexpensive little things: colouring books, stickers, mini puzzles, fidget toys, activity pads. There is no need to bring everything out at once: it is better to offer one new item every hour or whenever the child starts to get bored. The novelty factor helps hold their attention for a long time, even with simple toys.
Another important step is to sort out digital entertainment before you fly. Do not rely on onboard Wi-Fi or built-in screens: not every flight has them, and even when they do, they may be unreliable. So it is worth downloading cartoons, audio stories, games and other content your child enjoys onto your phone or tablet at home in advance, so you can access it offline throughout the flight.
