A large-scale archery tournament among war veterans and para-athletes, the “Warriors’ Cup”, took place in the Lviv region. This year, over 100 athletes from 19 regions participated in the competition, including 80 war veterans. This was reported on Facebook.
These competitions, which began in 2021, have already become part of the calendar of the National Archery Federation. They are important for the development of adaptive sports in Ukraine. A distinctive feature of the tournament is that war veterans and para-athletes compete together, supporting each other.
The tournament was initiated by a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Dmytro Sydoruk, who died in 2022. The competition is held as part of the “League of the Unconquered” project, which unites veterans and servicemen with disabilities.
In the Olympic bow category, the winners were: Mykhailo Andrushko, Oleh Soroka, and Heorhiy Hordus. In the compound bow category, the winners were: Pavlo Luchkiv, Yevhen Oliynyk, and Ivan Mazepa. Among para-athletes in the Olympic bow category, the winners were: Mykhailo Sydorenko, Denys Kalyuka, and Vasyl Kokhan.
The organisers of the competition were the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, together with the Lviv Regional Centre “Invasport” and the Lviv Regional Archery Federation. In 2026, 5.1 million UAH is allocated in the regional budget to support veterans’ participation in competitions.
