Lviv Shared Experience of Working with Veterans with 16 Cities

With 16 cities of Ukraine, city-adm.lviv.ua shared the experience of working with veterans in Lviv. This exchange of practices occurs within the framework of educational programs organized by the city for representatives of different communities. The program concluded by gathering 16 participants who learned about strategies for working with veterans in Lviv. These participants attended a meeting with the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, where they received certificates.

“If we speak about veteran policy, there must be maximum self-organization of communities…” — emphasized the Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, addressing the representatives of Ukrainian communities.

The participants of the program studied the mechanisms of the Center for Assistance to Combatants and discussed the creation of similar centers in their communities. They visited the rehabilitation center “UNBROKEN” and a prosthetic workshop to gain insight into Lviv’s approach to recovery for those affected by the war. Residents also had the opportunity to visit the veteran hub “Strylnytsia,” where attention was focused on sports as therapy.

Particular interest was drawn to the support of veteran businesses. Roman Lutchyn from Stryi expressed admiration for grants to start businesses and tags on veteran businesses that encourage purchases.

Halyna Konchuk from Kostopil highlighted the impressions of meetings in Lviv, particularly for the sake of caring for veterans everywhere — at City Hall and in shops, aiding with business and employment.

Thanks to the Municipal Governance School of UNBROKEN University together with Lviv City Council for organizing such a residency. All participants were selected free of charge through a competition. A new educational residency will begin soon from March 30 to April 3, and the residency “City for Everyone: Accessibility, Dignity, Respect” will be held from March 24 to 27.
