Due to dry and windy weather in the territory of Lviv Region, an increase in fire danger to high (4th class) and extreme (5th class) levels is expected until the end of 11 May. According to the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology, this concerns the entire region, except for the mountainous areas.
Natural fires can spread quickly due to the presence of dry vegetation and peatlands, making them difficult to control and posing a threat to both people and the environment. The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region urges citizens to be extremely cautious when using fire.
Specifically, it is advised to avoid burning dry grass and rubbish, not to start bonfires in forests or near dry vegetation, and not to leave cigarette ends or matches on the ground. In case a fire is detected, it is necessary to report it immediately by dialling 101.
