Roman Barytskyi from Uniatech Died in Battle for Ukraine

Tomorrow, the Drohobych community will honour the memory and bid farewell to the fallen defender of Ukraine, Roman Barytskyi, originally from the village of Uniatech. This is significant for the community, as Roman gave his life defending his homeland, as reported by the Drohobych City Council.

Born on 1 June 1998, Roman studied at the local school and College No. 15, later working in agriculture. In September 2024, he joined the ranks of the defenders and protected Ukraine on the front lines as part of unit A4447. In December of the same year, contact with him was lost, and he was considered missing.

Only recently was Roman’s death confirmed on the Pokrovsky direction. His body will be returned home for burial. He is survived by his mother, grandmother, and two brothers; his father also died defending the country in September 2025.

The funeral cortege will arrive tomorrow, 16 March, to his native community. The procession will meet at the Heroes’ crossroads at 16:00 and proceed to the village of Uniatech, where a wake will be held at home. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and he will be buried in the local cemetery.

The Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma, and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych express their heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and friends. Eternal memory to the Hero!
