The sad news has once again enveloped the Drohobych community. The celestial ranks have grown with the addition of a resident of the village of Uniatychi — Roman Barytskyi, a defender of Ukraine. He was born on 1 June 1998 and after his studies, worked in agriculture and also went abroad for work. On 29 September 2024, he joined the defence of his country, fighting on the front line as part of unit A4447. Sadly, in December of the same year, contact with him was lost in the Pokrovske direction. Only now has his death been confirmed, and his body returned for burial. This was reported by the Drohobych City Council.
Roman’s father was also killed in September 2025 while defending Ukraine. Roman is survived by his mother, grandmother, and two brothers. On 16 March, the Drohobych community met the funeral cortege with the body of the fallen warrior. At Heroes’ Crossroads, relatives, friends, community leaders, the Uniatychi elder, and concerned local residents gathered. Together they held a prayer service with clergymen. Afterwards, the cortege headed to his home in Uniatychi.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, at 11:00 in the Church of the Holy Mother of God in the village of Uniatychi, and the soldier will be buried in the local cemetery. Eternal glory and memory to the Hero!
