In Lviv, Lyudmyla Chorna Resumes Life on a Prosthetic Leg

Lyudmyla Chorna from Chernivtsi marked her first walk on a prosthetic leg following a serious road traffic accident that resulted in the loss of her leg. In four months, Lyudmyla, supported by specialists at the UNBROKEN centre in Lviv, was able to walk again, as reported by the Lviv City Council.

During rehabilitation, Lyudmyla was taught to walk with the prosthetic using parallel bars under the supervision of an expert. Her joy and desire to return not only to her work as a confectioner but also to pursue her long-standing ambition to dance, particularly the rumba, are evident. As Lyudmyla recalls: “I hadn’t stood on both feet for 4 months. I can hardly believe I’m making my first steps into a new life!”

It is worth noting that the UNBROKEN centre in Lviv provides all necessary support to those affected by Russian aggression, including reconstructive surgery, orthopaedics, and prosthetics, as well as physical, psychological, and psychosocial rehabilitation, all free of charge.
