In Lviv, the process of resuming the operation of fountains after the winter period has begun. According to Viktor Dubinyak, head of the municipal services department of the Halytskyi District Administration, the fountains remained off due to night frosts. However, the first water features were already started yesterday, and the main fountain near the opera house will be operational by the end of the week.
The “Well with Lions” fountain has already resumed its operation. At the centre of the composition is an oval stone basin from which three streams of water flow. Nearby is a high red brick wall and a stone sculpture of a lion.
Before the Easter holidays, the technical condition of the water features was checked, but they were not started due to frost forecasts. Now, with consistently warm weather predicted, the fountains have begun to resume operation in stages. By morning, drinking fountains in the district are already working at Rynok Square, Svobody Avenue, near the Organ Hall, and at the intersection of Stepan Bandera and General T. Chuprynka streets.
Decorative fountains “Aquarius”, “Well with Lions”, and the fountain at Koliivshchyna Square have also resumed operation. The fountains near the opera house and “Da Vinci” at Halytskyi Square are planned to be started by the end of the week.
In total, 5 regular and 6 drinking fountains will be operational in the Halytskyi district. Fountains at Mytna Square, Krynychna Square, Dvirtseva Square, and a new drinking fountain at 34 Vyhovskoho Street have resumed operation. The drinking fountain on Pidvalna Street will be operational by the end of the week.
In Stryiskyi Park, two new drinking fountains will be operational this year. The main fountain “Ivasyk-Telesyk” will not be operational until the end of the month, when consistently warm weather lasts for several weeks.
