In the communities of Rudno, Zarudtsi, Vynnyky and Malekhiv, the most critical rivers are set to be cleaned this year. This refers to the sanitary cleaning of the Vyshenka river in Rudno and the Dumnyi channel in Zarudtsi, according to Lviv.aglomeration. Funds for these works have already been approved.
Problems with rivers, such as Vyshenka, have previously led to flooding due to heavy rains caused by domestic waste pollution and overgrowth. In addition to bringing the rivers back to a proper sanitary condition, there are plans to ensure the safety of residents living nearby.
The upcoming session of the LCC will also consider the possibility of additional funding for the Marunka river in Vynnyky and Malakhivka in Malekhiv. Here, restoration and maintenance of a favourable hydrological regime are also planned. Funding for the works will be provided from a special environmental protection fund.
These measures aim to keep rivers and streams, which are part of the environment, in good condition to preserve drinking water and protect ecosystems. Additionally, last year an inventory of watercourses in the Lviv community was conducted, allowing for the approval of a list of all watercourses and the determination of those responsible for their maintenance.
