Lviv Region Among Leaders in Online Barrier-Free Objects

Lviv Region entered the top five leaders by the number of barrier-free objects available online.

A new online tool has appeared in Ukraine that helps communities navigate spaces and plan changes. This is the Barrier-Free Map – an interactive platform that reflects the state of accessibility in various regions. Monitoring was conducted from June 1 to August 31 at the initiative of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. The results are available in real-time thanks to the LUN company.

The Map already features 55 thousand objects, including healthcare, education, culture facilities, and more. Each location is marked: barrier-free, partially barrier-free, or barrier. For security reasons, critical infrastructure is not displayed.

Lviv Region entered the top five leaders along with Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Between three to five thousand objects were checked in these regions. An important addition was the mapping of nearly two thousand barrier-free routes within the “Movement Without Barriers” project.

“Lviv Region consistently develops barrier-free environments within communities. The interactive map is not just a planning tool, but also real assistance to people. Anyone can open it on their smartphone or computer and instantly see where accessible routes, facilities, or services are. This is a modern approach that allows communities to make data-driven decisions, and residents to feel confident in their environment,” – noted Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Oleksandr Kulepin.
