An updated version of the LeoCard mobile app for paying fares on city public transport has been unveiled in Lviv. LKP «Lvivavtodor» reported that the changes were introduced taking into account passengers’ feedback, to make the service more convenient and easier to use.
Among the main updates is a more user-friendly ticket activation process. In the app, the “Swipe to activate ticket” slider button has been enlarged. If a passenger buys several tickets in a single payment, instead of several separate buttons, a ticket counter and a single activation button are now displayed.
LeoCard has also introduced a reminder about the mandatory validation of the ticket. After activation in the app, the QR code must be scanned using the reader at the top of the validator inside the vehicle. The company explains that this was done because of recorded cases where passengers activated a ticket but did not complete its validation.
“Since there were recorded cases where passengers did not validate their ticket after activation, we have added a special reminder in the app about this important step. Overall, we have taken feedback on board and improved the functions passengers most frequently wrote about. Using the app has now become even more comfortable,” the municipal company noted.
According to LKP «Lvivavtodor», more than 188,000 passengers on Lviv’s public transport already use the mobile app. LeoCard was launched in December 2024, and in 2025 its functionality was significantly expanded. It is now a fully fledged service for fare payment and journey planning.
Through the app, passengers can buy single tickets and make free transfers within 40 minutes. The fare with this method of payment is 23 hryvnias — the same as when using the general LeoKart card. Also available are 30-day passes with an unlimited number of trips on all city buses, trams and trolleybuses.
In addition, LeoCard includes a route planner: the user can choose the most convenient and cost-effective way from their location to their destination, taking into account the optimal number of transfers.
According to the company, 93% of public transport passengers in Lviv now pay their fare cashlessly, mainly via LeoKart services. Around 7% of passengers buy paper tickets from the driver.
