Solar panels to be installed at community office in Malekhiv

A pilot project to use alternative energy is being implemented in Malekhiv: the community office will be equipped with solar panels. This will allow the institution to operate as normal even during power cuts and will reduce the cost of maintaining the premises.

According to the Office for Agglomeration and Community Development, a contract has already been signed with the contractor, who is due to start installing the equipment in the near future. The system will power computers, network equipment and the internet from batteries charged by the solar panels.

The head of the Office for Agglomeration and Community Development, Nataliia Aliekiesieva, noted that thanks to autonomous power supply, staff will be able to receive visitors, issue certificates, register documents and provide basic administrative services even during blackouts. An additional advantage will be savings on utility costs: the need for fuel for generators will be reduced.

The community emphasises that, unlike petrol or diesel generators, the solar power station operates silently and therefore will not cause discomfort to staff or people seeking services.

According to Nataliia Aliekiesieva, this site is being treated as a test case: if the system operates successfully during prolonged power outages, the community plans to install solar panels on other buildings that house offices and where technical conditions allow.
