In Lviv region, a resident of the border area will stand trial for the illegal importation of a batch of snus.
In October this year, a 37-year-old resident of the Yavoriv district attempted to illegally bring a batch of smokeless tobacco (snus) into Ukraine. Driving a Mercedes minibus, she was heading through the Shehyni border checkpoint, carrying goods without excise stamps, purchased in Poland, with the intent of further distribution in Lviv region.
The illegal import attempt was stopped by the border guards of the 7th Carpathian border detachment in cooperation with customs officers. During the inspection of the vehicle, 480 cans of snus of various brands were found in the luggage compartment. All were without excise tax stamps.
The approximate value of the seized goods is about 120,000 UAH. The products have been seized.
The indictment for the illegal transportation of excise goods for sale has been submitted to the court. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by employees of the Territorial Administration of the BEB in Lviv region, with procedural supervision by the staff of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
