Charity bike ride in Lviv on June 1 with Arsen Mirzoyan: route, transport changes, and purpose of the event

On Sunday, June 1, the city of Lviv will host the eighth annual charity bike ride “Pedal for Life,” dedicated to both Children’s Day and Cancer Survivors Day. The event is organized by singer Arsen Mirzoyan and the charitable foundation “Zaporyka.” The goal is to raise UAH 1 million in support of children undergoing cancer treatment at the Clinical Center for Pediatric Medicine.

🔹 Public transport during the event
Due to temporary road closures along Svobody Avenue, several routes will be altered from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM:

  • Bus No. 9: from the bus station – via Doroshenka St. → Svobody Ave. → Halytska Sq. → Mytna Sq. → Pidvalna St. → Honty St. → Chornovola Ave. Regular route on return trip.

  • Bus No. 21: shortened route to Doroshenka stop, with turnaround via Svobody Ave.

  • Bus No. 48: from Liubinska St. via Doroshenka, Svobody Ave., Halytska Sq., Mytna Sq., Pidvalna St., Honty St., and Chornovola Ave. Normal route on return trip.

  • Trolleybus No. 33: thanks to the use of battery-powered vehicles only, this line will run with minimal changes. The endpoint will temporarily shift to Halytska Sq., with the return trip going via Mytna Sq., Pidvalna St., Honty St., and Chornovola Ave.

🔹 Event highlights

  • Starting point: Svobody Ave. 28 (Lviv Opera House)

  • Registration: from 10:30 AM

  • Start time: 12:00 PM

  • Participation fee: UAH 300 (tickets available online)

  • Free entry: for servicemen, their families, and persons with disabilities (proof required)

🔹 Bike route:
Svobody Ave. 28 → Svobody Ave. → Rizni Sq. → V. Chornovola Ave. → V. Lypynskoho St. → turnaround at B. Khmelnytskoho St. → return same route

🔹 Technical innovation
For the first time, Lviv will operate trolleybus route No. 33 exclusively with autonomous vehicles, allowing them to bypass de-energized segments and maintain continuous service. The city currently operates 11 such trolleybuses capable of traveling 15+ km without connection to overhead wires.

🔹 Organizers
The Zaporyka Foundation has over a decade of experience in supporting healthcare. In partnership with the Western Ukrainian Specialized Pediatric Medical Center, they launched a pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant clinic before the full-scale war. The charity bike ride is one of their flagship fundraising projects, and in past years it raised over UAH 2 million.

This year, alongside registered cyclists, survivors of childhood cancer will also join, demonstrating that the disease can be overcome.
