On March 23, the final matches of the 28th Algirdas Šocikas International Boxing Tournament of Class A took place in Kaunas, Lithuania. Ivan Zavadskyi, an 18-year-old representative of Lviv, became the winner of this prestigious international tournament.
Ivan Zavadskyi won the gold medal in the 54 kg weight category in the final fight. He defeated a powerful rival from Kazakhstan, Nursultan Altynbek, who won the Asian Championships among athletes under the age of 22 last year.
In the semifinal match, Ivan Zavadskyi, a native of Zakarpattia (coached by Roman Dzhuman and Oleksandr Ostapchuk, and first coach Valeriy Vyshnev), defeated Jones Corey, a boxer from Wales.
In total, the Ukrainian national team won 13 medals (3 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze) at this tournament, which was attended by 72 boxers from 10 countries.
