Anna Maksymenko, a fencer from Lviv, became the vice-champion of the 2025 World Universiade in Germany.
During the competition, Anna confidently competed against her rivals, winning the silver medal. In the round of 1/32 finals, she defeated Lara Goldman with a score of 15:10. In the 1/16 finals, she overcame Lisa Marie Llor with 15:12. In the 1/8 finals, she outplayed the top seed, Alexandra Zittel, with 15:9. In the quarterfinals, Anna faced Belgian Obe Vandingenen and won with 15:13. In a tense semifinal, Anna Maksymenko proved stronger than Edina Kardos, finishing the match with a score of 15:12. In the final bout, she faced the titled Kailin Se from Hong Kong, narrowly losing with a score of 8:9.
