At the sixth stage of the Nations Cup in luge, held in Winterberg, Germany, Anton Dukach from the Lviv region claimed his first-ever gold medal at this level. He won the single-luge competition, setting a track record with a time of 51.274 seconds.
“This is my first victory at the Nations Cup level and the first for Ukraine among men. I’m incredibly satisfied with today’s performance,” Anton Dukach shared on his Instagram page.
The Nations Cup stage preceded the European Championship, also held in Winterberg from January 18-19. Dukach delivered strong performances, finishing:
- 🏅 6th in the relay,
- 🏅 8th in the men’s singles competition.
Anton Dukach represents the Lviv Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery. His coaches are Taras Hartsula and Volodymyr Vakhrushev, noted Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Achievements of Other Athletes from Lviv Region
At the European Championship in the under-23 category, another athlete from Lviv, Andrii Muts, won a bronze medal in the two-man luge event. He competed alongside Maksym Pinchuk from Ternopil.
